Problem Note 42303: An error occurs when you install the SAS Power and Sample Size 3.1 application on a Japanese edition of Microsoft Windows operating environments

The following error message is displayed when you install the SAS Power and Sample Size 3.1 application under a Japanese edition of Windows:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.RuntimeException: Args v1 and v2 cannot be blank: v1=3.1, v2=
        at com.sas.analytics.psscommon.Utilities.compareToVersion(Utilities.java:598)
        at com.sas.analytics.psscommon.Utilities.isLaterVersion(Utilities.java:660)
        at com.sas.analytics.clientpss.ClientConfigurationProperties.initializePreferencesFile(ClientConfigurationProperties.java:321)
        at com.sas.analytics.clientpss.ClientConfigurationProperties.(ClientConfigurationProperties.java:107)
        at com.sas.analytics.clientpss.Pss.(Pss.java:128)
        at com.sas.analytics.clientpss.Pss.main(Pss.java:423)

To resolve this problem, open the prefs.xml file in the !SASROOT\SASPowerAndSampleSize\3.1\ directory and change the line preferences id="pss" to the following:

preferences id="pss" version="3.1"

Note: This problem is fixed in the third maintenance release for SAS 9.2 (TS2M3). revision 11w03.
